Frédéric Julien is Director of Research and Development at CAPACOA since 2010. Mr. Julien has been active in the performing arts for twenty years, as an artist, a cultural manager, a consultant, and an advocate. He holds a Master’s degree in music, as well as a graduate diploma in project management. Mr. Julien has worked with arts presenters at the department of Canadian Heritage. From 2004 to 2010, he successively held the positions of assistant director and executive director at Réseau Ontario, Ontario’s francophone presenting network.

Mr. Julien currently provides research, policy development, advocacy and communications expertise at CAPACOA. Over the last 8 years, he directed or authored several key research initiatives such as: The Value of Presenting: A Study of Performing Arts Presentation in Canada, Vital Signs: Arts and Belonging, and Digitizing the Performing Arts: An Assessment of Opportunities, Issues and Challenges. He is a regular speaker and session facilitator at conferences throughout Canada. He also frequently facilitates online dialogues on the state of the performing arts sector as part of the Arts in Perspective series.

Mr. Julien has a keen interest in partnership development and cross-sector collaboration. Over the last 5 years, he has been Co-Chair of the Canadian Arts Coalition a collaborative advocacy movement. He has also served in various capacities with the Canadian Coalition for Public Health in the 21st century, the Arts Health Network Canada, and his neighbourhood association.
