Melissa is Music on Main’s Artistic Planning & Operations Manager, responsible for the overall management and supervision of the organization’s operations, and facilitating artistic and organizational excellence. Melissa is integral for overseeing organizational capacity and growth, including strategic sustainability and financial viability. A classical and contemporary concert presenter and producer, Music on Main will co-host the International Society for Contemporary Music World New Music Days 2017 in November. Melissa’s motivation for leadership growth stems from her interest in the sustainability of a healthy social ecology, including the improvement of organizations’ internal cultures, and the exploration of cultural organizations’ roles within the community. A live performance producer and administrator, Melissa’s experience spans over ten years. Prior to Music on Main, she was Ballet BC’s Company Manager, responsible for overall execution of planning, touring and company management. She also spent six years working in the artistic and education departments at Vancouver Opera, where she was responsible for the management of the Vancouver Opera In Schools touring ensemble program, new work development and workshops, and artistic planning. She has been involved with various other arts organizations including Gateway Theatre, the BC Choral Federation, the Vancouver International Children’s Festival, and Phoenix Chamber Choir. Melissa holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre Production/Design and Music from the University of British Columbia, and begins part-time Master of Business Administration studies from Durham University in April of 2017.
